Hi there! My name is Alex and I'm your friendly, neighborhood photographer. I'm a passionate person which you can immediately tell because of how effusive I am! (And my overuse of exclamation points...) I'm a sci-fi geek, boy mom, and coffee snob. In a previous life, I was an opera singer, and use my masters in vocal performance to sing my boys the best lullabies ever.
When I'm not following my passion for capturing childhood, I'm documenting beautiful love stories, playing legos with my two boys, or snuggling with my hubby. I love making things with my hands, so there's usually a craft project somewhere around the house, be it knitting, bookbinding, hat making, sewing, or baking.
A Friendly Photo came to be because of my love of childhood. It wasn't until I became a parent that I truly appreciated the fleeting nature of childhood. My oldest is now 4 years old and it feels as if it was only yesterday that we brought him home with us. I find myself clinging to every moment, not sure if it's the last time he'll say "aminal", the last time he'll run to me for comfort, the last time I'll be able to lift him into my arms. Each day that passes, the child that he is now starts to slip away, making way for the new child he'll become next.
Every moment in childhood is so fleeting, and that's why I'm passionate about the lifestyle approach to family photography. Because we don't just want to remember what our children looked like. We want to remember their love of life, their glee, their heartache, and the other moments that will slip through our fingers all too quickly.
